Thomas is the Founder and CEO of The Innovators CoLab (iCoLab), a global working group of Chief Innovation Officers and strategy leaders from mid-large sized businesses, non-profits and systemically important organizations. He’s been an entrepreneur, intrapreneur and business owner for more than 25 years with international experience across multiple industries including: corporate innovation management and consulting, technology, e-commerce, importing and distribution, and advanced manufacturing.
Through the facilitation of cross-industry, peer driven collaboration, iCoLab helps corporate innovation teams design and deploy systems that drive new enterprise value and growth. A few of the organizations Thomas has worked with include Amazon, Xcel Energy, the US Department of Commerce, Danone NA, several state and national economic development groups, US Air Force Academy, CableLabs, scores of startups, and academic institutions.
Thomas subscribes to the concept of anti-fragility defined by Nassim Nicholas Talib. The opposite of fragile, anti-fragility can be deployed into organizations creating adaptable systems that are required in our globalized world driven by knowledge, computers and radical change. Corporate Innovation teams, intrapreneurs and change leaders are optimally positioned to help their organizations deploy an anti-fragile philosophy. He believes this is necessary to survive and thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution environment.
Thomas engages with a broad set of partners and collaborators who share ambitions of delivering top-tier results while living a good life and not compromising the most meaningful concerns we all share. The most significant output from these collaborations is the publication of The TuCK Project. An acronym for ’The Uncommon Knowledge Project’, TuCK is a 390-page body of work that assembles common descriptions of business concerns in an uncommon way. Serving as co-leader and author, Thomas and 22 working groups published essays on each of the Permanent Domains of Human Concerns for Business including Constitution, Finance and Capital, Sales, Production and Strategy. TuCK remains an invaluable reference for scores of business professionals working to produce in the top percentile of the marketplace. Along with publishing the TuCK project, Thomas has also authored several essays and papers including: Politics in Business; Innovation and Design; and Marketplace Drift in a Global Marketplace.
