Raised in Costa Rica, Argentina and Venezuela as the son of missionary parents, Jon brings together global perspective, a passion for communication, an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to see transformational change happen in communities globally.
Through over twenty years of experience in nonprofit and startup innovation work, Jon has built a deep understanding of the changes we need to see in global markets, social impact and organizational development. His experience across sectors such as healthcare, media, technology services, social services and research have allowed him to speak and consult across Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America; as well as in his home country of the United States.
Currently Jon serves as Director of Program Innovation at SIL International, a nonprofit that serves language communities worldwide, building their capacity for sustainable language development by means of research, translation, training and materials development. Previously Jon served as CEO of GMI (Global Mapping International), a nonprofit research firm. Through that leadership role, Jon developed a global platform focused on engaging nonprofit leaders in understanding their world and innovating in it. Jon championed the concept of “Knowledge Stewardship” as a way for leaders to reframe their thinking about research as a critical component to their strategic planning and program design efforts.
“Jon has the rare capability to envision and capture opportunities for growth. He sees potential in contexts that others consider routine. He sees the future of things embedded in the present.” Larry Kraft, Director of Research, OC International
“Jon… truly grasps the unique challenges and innovation needs of organizations under the immense pressures of unprecedented change, understanding what it is going to take for like-minded organizations, who work in a spirit of collaboration rather than competition…” Phil O’Day, Executive Vice President, Camino Global
Jon lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado with his wife Mindy, their three children, one dog and three birds.
